This holiday season will be a welcome and well-deserved break for all of us at the Maneuver Center of Excellence as we celebrate with family and friends.
As we enjoy our holiday season, we will remember our fellow Soldiers and civilians who are deployed overseas, especially those engaged in combat in Afghanistan. We will also remember our fellow Soldiers who have made the ultimate sacrifice. They and their families remain in our thoughts and prayers. In the New Year we might resolve to live well and cherish the memories of our fallen comrades as well as the liberties they fought to preserve.
Be safe this holiday season. Look out for each other. Do not let the festivities during this holiday period turn into tragic events. Highways remain the greatest single threat to the safety and welfare of our Soldiers, Civilians and family members during the holiday season.
I want to thank all of you for your service to our nation, our Army and our Soldiers. Have fun, be safe, and I look forward to seeing you in the New Year.
